Another 20+ incher

I got lucky again despite high spring waters. This time I made a little clip, to give the viewers an opportunity to get a glimpse at what fighting a 20+ inch (50+cm) landlocked salmon means.

Come fishy, fishy!

Another day, another chance to take advantage of the fishing opportunities New Hampshire offers at the beginning of the season. One hour at sunset was enough to bring some more beauties to the first page of my blog. All released...

Hook Jaw

Waters are still high in Central NH. And despite the nice weather, water temperatures don't go too high above freezing. Wading today meant that I had to use my 6'3" height to the max; I even abandoned the fanny pack to be able to go deeper. I still didn't dare to venture in to the current, because swimming is usually not something that I like to do at this time of the year.

When the fish hit my fly, it felt like I snagged into something, until it started to shake its head and my heart rate went up instantly. Luckily I had enough space to maneuver in calm water and the combination reel-rod basically did the rest of the job. And also luckily I had my favorite photographer around to capture the moment.

Result: this amazing hook jaw landlocked salmon, first of the season and my new 4 wt rod's best.

It measured approx 21 in, just past the 50 cm mark on my rod.

.......And happy end for the fish. Catch and release!

Fish on!

I keep getting complaints from my American friends that it's hard for them to understand what I write if it's in Romanian. So i decided that from now on I will have more posts in English, because most of my Romanian friends understand English pretty well.

I'm finally able to show some fish in my pictures. Yeah! I happened, first fish of the season. And it's not an April fools' joke. Despite the high water and swift current my new 4 wt10 footer had enough juice to land this ~ 18 in (over 45 cm) rainbow safely.

A few pictures taken by another fly fisherman that was in the area at the moment (THANKS!!!!) and the fish went back to fight another day.
